A grand gala evening was held aboard the “Surakhani” Ship-Museum as part of the Azerbaijan International Robotics Olympiad – AIRO 2025.

The event was officially opened by Zaur Naghiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), operating under the Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding.

Subsequently, Kenan Karimli, Head of Sector at the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Hafiz Tofidi, Head of Department at the Digital Development and Innovation Agency; and AIRO's Chief Coordinator Imamir Mirzoyeva delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in the field of technology.

During the evening, appreciation certificates were presented to partner organizations and supporters of the project.

The audience enjoyed a musical performance by Anar Velizadeh, a young balaban virtuoso and laureate of international competitions.

Participants had the opportunity to explore the “Surakhani” Ship-Museum and visit the robotics laboratory established in collaboration with AzeRobot Education.

Within the AIRO 2025 framework, winners of the national championship, to be held on May 10–11 at ADA University, will qualify to compete in the Grand Final of the All Japan Robo-Sumo Tournament in December. The ASCO Techno team from the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy is among the competitors.

AIRO 2025 is organized by AzeRobot Education with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Digital Development and Innovation Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
