The film “Shovket” was screened on the “Surakhani” ship-museum

As part of the “Fly to Baku. Art Weekend. Sense the Future NOW” project, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Union in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the film “Shovket” was screened on the “Surakhany” vessel-museum.

The main concept of the Art Weekend project is to create an emotional connection between the past and the future through art. In this regard, the film’s screening on the vessel-museum is not coincidental. “Surakhany” is a gateway to maritime heritage and a living memory of Azerbaijan’s seafaring history.

The film’s storyline is dedicated to the life and career of Shovket Salimova, the first female ship captain in the history of Azerbaijan—her professionalism, courage, and inspiring persona. The screen production serves as a bridge between culture and history while also reflecting the water- and sea-themed concept of the “Fly to Baku. Art Weekend. Sense the Future NOW” festival.

After the screening, guests viewed a unique exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Captain Shovket. Additionally, the thematic tours organized on the vessel-museum as part of the festival offered visitors a special journey between art and history.
